Smoothie Popsicles

Can I make popsicles out of my smoothie? Yes! You can also make popsicles from this smoothie recipe for a delicious summer frozen snack. See below.

Tip: You can also make delicious popsicles with this recipe for a refreshing frozen summer snack!

Pour smoothie mixture into popsicle molds and freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight. To unmold, run under warm (not hot) water for about 20-30 seconds for an easier release. I like to use silicone popsicle molds. (See the recipe card for the ones I recommend from Amazon.)

Let’s start blending!

Cherry Smoothie Ingredients:

  • 1 cup frozen pitted cherries (heaping cup)

  • 5.3oz container Silk Greek coconutmilk yogurt alternative (or a heaping 1/2 cup)

  • 1 tbsp Vital Proteins vanilla collagen creamer (or vanilla protein powder of choice)

  • juice from 1/2 large lemon

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

  • 3-4 large ice cubes

Garnish with fresh cherries or lemon slice if desired.

Instructions

How to make a creamy cherry smoothie:

Add all ingredients to a blender or smoothie cup. Pulse a few times or start on low, then increase speed to high and blend for at least 1 minute or until creamy and smooth.

Note: Blender and smoothie makers can have different instructions on loading ingredient types (example: My Vitamix blender recommends loading liquids first, however my Ninja smoothie cup recommends loading frozen ingredients first.) Read recommended instructions for loading your particular blender or smoothie maker for optimal performance and a smooth outcome.

Pour smoothie mixture into serving glass or cup and garnish if desired. Enjoy this sweet tasting yet healthy treat immediately, or add mixture to popsicle molds and freeze for a frozen treat whenever the craving hits!

What are the benefits of a cherry smoothie?

Cherries are a superfood! They are packed with vitamins, potassium and magnesium and rich in antioxidants which help to reduce inflammation. Cherries are used in diets to help prevent or decrease inflammation in people who suffer from gout or arthritis. Cherries also help protect your heart and it’s tissues, beneficial for the skin, and they can also help in promoting better sleep.

There is added benefit in the lemon juice, which is rich in vitamin C, helping to reduce cholesterol and lower the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke. They have also been shown to aid in digestion, weight loss and skin health.

The Vital Proteins collagen creamer adds an extra health boost with energy-boosting MCT’s. Taking collagen supplements daily can help support healthy nails, hair, joints and bones.

Enjoy!
