Healthier Eggnog Smoothie

Dairy-Free

With the start of December comes my craving for eggnog. The inspiration for this Dairy-Free Healthier Eggnog Smoothie was to find a more wholesome way to enjoy this holiday favorite, without all the added processed sugar and extra calories that a true eggnog brings. With the help of Nature’s Flavors Organic Bourbon Flavor Powder, it was a breeze to attain the flavor I needed and keep it natural and healthy. (You can also substitute with a rum extract!) Using fruits, veggies, spices, pure maple syrup and dairy-free milks and the bourbon flavor powder, I created a delicious smoothie with a creamy texture and all the flavors of eggnog with some nutritional benefits to sustain you.

Nature’s Flavors Organic Bourbon Flavor Powder is vegan, kosher, and gluten-free, so it can be safely used in a variety of recipes and in powder form, it doesn’t compromise dry mixes or baked goods.

  • 1/2 cup canned coconut milk, (not the lite)

  • 3/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

  • 4-5 large ice cubes

Instructions:

Notes

Note: I am lactose intolerant, that is why I choose to create a dairy-free version, but if you would like to use real dairy ingredients you can (equal substitution amounts.) Keep in mind that the nutritional value may change.

Note: You can use either bourbon flavor powder or rum extract.

Note: Blender and smoothie makers can have different instructions on loading ingredient types (example: My Vitamix blender recommends loading liquids first, however my Ninja smoothie cup recommends loading frozen ingredients first.) Read recommended instructions for loading your particular blender or smoothie maker for optimal performance and a smooth outcome.
