Easy Baked Ham and Cheese Sliders

caramelized “everything bagel” flavor

Talk about an EASY and DELICIOUS party food!! These caramelized baked ham and cheese sliders are a true crowd pleaser. Easy prep and short bake time and ready for super bowl, game time, party time or just a tasty weekend lunch. What was my inspiration? I’ve made versions of these over the years and enjoyed. Most ham and cheese slider recipes use poppy seeds and chopped onions, but this time I decided to just use an all-in-one seasoning: everything bagel!

Everything bagel seasoning contains sesame seeds, sea salt, minced garlic, minced onion, black sesame seeds and poppy seeds, so it cuts a lot of work out and minimizes the ingredients needed. I used black forest ham and provolone cheese for mine, but feel free to use desired ham and cheese (honey ham, swiss cheese, etc.) These are incredibly delicious and buttery with a sweet and savory bite. I used brioche style butter rolls, but you can substitute with Hawaiian or potato rolls also. Makes 12 sliders.

Let’s begin!

Ingredients:

  • 12 count brioche style butter rolls

  • 10 slices black forest deli ham

  • 9 slices provolone cheese

  • 6 tbsp butter (I used plant butter for a dairy free version)

  • 2 tbsp dark brown sugar

  • 1 1/2 tbsp everything bagel seasoning

  • 1 tbsp spicy brown mustard

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

How to make ham and cheese sliders

Instructions:

Butter the bottom of a 13x9 inch baking pan. Separate roll tops from bottoms using a long serrated knife. Set tops aside for now. Place bottom halves in prepared baking dish, cut side up.

Layer rolls with ham, gently folding as you go, until all the rolls are covered.

Next, layer with provolone cheese slices, overlapping, until covering all the ham. Place roll tops on cheese.

To make the everything bagel sauce: Add remaining ingredients to a small sauce pot and cook, while stirring over medium heat for 3-4 minutes.

Remove sauce from heat and spoon (or carefully pour) over top of rolls, covering as evenly as possible.

Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, but up to 24 hours…which makes this perfect for party prepping! Making ahead as much as possible always takes a little stress out of the party day so YOU can enjoy more of the party, right?!

Remove from fridge about 15-30 minutes before you want to bake and preheat oven to 350℉ /176℃. Cover loosely with foil, then place in center of oven and bake for 23 minutes, then remove foil and continue baking, uncovered, 5-8 minutes longer.

Before serving, use a wide spatula to separate sliders for an easy grab-n-go party food.

The everything bagel sauce has such a tasty sweet and savory flavor that caramelizes to a buttery perfection on these party sandwiches that will make your guests rave. (They will be asking when the next party is!)

Enjoy!

Notes

Note: I used brioche style butter rolls, but Hawiian or potato rolls will work as well.

Note: Use whatever type ham and cheese you desire (you can't go wrong, because it's all in the delicious sauce!)

Tip: You can find everything bagel seasoning in the spice section of local grocery stores or I have it linked on Amazon below.

Note: You can substitute light brown sugar for dark if that's what you have in your pantry, it will still caramelize.
