Pumpkin Dog Treats
These Pumpkin Dog Treats will surely let your dog know how much they are loved and appreciated. Made from scratch, with wholesome ingredients and LOVE. Organic pumpkin puree, whole grain wheat flour, raw honey and peanut butter are the main ingredients. Tested by local neighborhood pooches and loved!♥ (Also tested by me, for human safeness. FYI: found to be very safe for human consumption, although I’d rather eat my homemade gingerbread cookies…these taste like dog treats, go figure!) Depending on size of cutter used, this recipe makes about 30-50 treats.
These treats are made almost exactly like roll-out cookies, so I ordered some inexpensive dog bone cookie cutters from Amazon. If you want to order the same ones, click HERE to check them out. The pack I ordered included three sizes and I was very happy with the results and ease of use, I would highly recommend them.

Instructions
- PREHEAT oven to 300℉ / 149℃ and lightly grease a baking sheet.
- Add all ingredients, except flour to a large bowl.
- Mix until smooth and creamy at medium speed.
- Slowly add in flour, mixing at medium speed until well incorporated.
- Wrap dough in plastic wrap and place in freezer to chill for about 5 minutes.
- Prepare your roll-out space by lightly flouring a clean surface, rolling pin and cutters.
- Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thick and cut out shapes.
- Place cut outs on a lightly greased baking sheet. They will not spread much, so you can place them close to each other, about 1/2 inch apart.
- Baking times: For small treats, bake 35-40 minutes. For medium, bake 40-45 minutes. For large, bake 45-50 minutes.
- After removing from oven, let dog treats cool on pan completely, then put them back in the oven for at least 4-6 hours to dry out further (this will extend the shelf life of your treats)
- After cooling process, dog treats can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks.
Notes
- After cooling process, dog treats can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks.
- Since this recipe makes several, it is a good idea to store a portion in freezer for later use. They will keep 9-10 months in the freezer.
- If you choose to skip the extra drying out time, the shelf life will be reduced to 1-2 weeks.
- Note: Please check with your dog’s vet before making any changes to their diet. Foods that are known to be toxic and should never be given to your dog include: Chocolate, yeast dough, grapes, raisins, onions, avocados, alcohol, coffee or artificial sweeteners.)
