Copycat Tropical Cafe Detox Island Green Smoothie

Attention all smoothie lovers! If you are looking for a delicious and healthy way to detox, try this copycat recipe for Tropical Cafe’s detox island green smoothie. I’m a pretty healthy eater, but it’s so hard not to indulge around the holidays and when on vacation. Needless to say, after some irresistible indulging and afterwards feeling lethargic, my skin is dull and breaking out, and getting bloated and unregular, my body tells me when it needs to detox and get back on track. This Tropical Detox Smoothie is exactly what I need.

The inspiration for this smoothie comes from my favorite smoothie at Tropical Smoothie Café, the Detox Island Green Smoothie. One reason I think it’s the best one their menu, is the fact it is naturally sweetened, no added sugar, but still unbelievably delicious. What is in the Tropical Smoothie Detox Island Green smoothie? Pineapple, Mango, Banana, Spinach, Kale, Fresh Ginger, that’s it! It has the lowest calorie count, at 180 and the lowest sugar, 29g. It’s naturally sweetened from the fresh fruit and no dairy is added. My recipe does not include kale, (sorry, but I’m not a big fan) however, the taste is still amazing and fresh and tastes just like the Tropical Smoothie Detox Island Green. The clean, whole food ingredients are just what your body needs to detox and get back on track to feeling better and more energy. So, if you’ve been indulgent with a little too much processed foods and sugary sweets and drinks, hop on the detox train and try this smoothie!

Let’s begin!

Ingredients:

It took me a few tries to get the amounts of the ingredients to correctly duplicate the Detox Island Green from Tropical Smoothie Café, but finally, success! 👍 It has a thick and creamy texture and delicious tropical medley taste, with a little welcomed spice kick from the ginger, pow!! 🤩🤛 I used regular purified water, however, coconut water would be a nice, healthy substitute.

How many calories and grams of sugar does my Tropical Detox Smoothie have? After calculating the ingredients used and amounts, the calories are 195 and the sugar is 34 grams for a 16oz serving. The banana adds the highest amount of calories and sugar, and I used a large banana, so to cut back a little more, use a small banana. I also would like to note that the cost is less than $2.00 per serving, as opposed to over $5.00 for the real thing. (plus gas to go get it!)

Instructions:

NOTEWORTHY: I used my ever-amazing, (and can’t do without) Ninja 3-in-1 Smart Screen Kitchen System smoothie attachment. This has been one of the best, most used, Christmas gifts I ever received. (Don’t think every girl hates a gift with a plug, because I don’t!😉) I love my Ninja 3-in-1 system and use it all the time. It comes with a food processor attachment that makes my slaw recipes a breeze and also making homemade almond butter, a blender attachment for cocktails, lemonades, or even ice creams or soups, and my favorite, the smoothie attachment, for a quick and healthy protein shake or smoothie(…and so much more!) Another noteworthy blender recommendation is the Vitamix 5200 blender. It’s less expensive than other Vitamix blenders and still gets the job done. Catch it at a good price on Amazon discount days like I did. Find it HERE. It’s a great smoothie blender for making 2-3 servings at a time (in case you are treating the whole family to a healthy smoothie break.)

Oh…I almost forgot to mention one of THE BEST things about both of these blenders are they are SUPER EASY TO CLEAN…which is why I was never fond of the past blenders I have had. They were a pain to clean after using them, so I didn’t think it was worth the effort.
